Everything you wanted to know about McElfresh.org is here-- except for those questions I haven't thought of, and answers I haven't yet provided to questions I haven’t received. Think of this as a Frequently Asked Questions section with just the answers.

McElfresh.org is an online magazine; an open look at a portion of my life. I’m Ron McElfresh, and I live in Hawaii.

Consider our magazine as a visual and textual slice of life for one of the McElfresh clan, of Scotland (a few centuries ago). You may also consider this a bunch of meandering ramblings accented with colorful photographs. Take your pick.

Throughout the site you’ll find various and sundry photographs, some old, some new, most from places we’ve lived or visited, and a few that are borrowed.

I work on the internet; as in, at home, on a computer, and pretty much all the time, hence the need to buy a tan. My company (which is mostly me) develops and manages content on a number of internet sites, so I dabble in photography, videography, computer systems and servers, PHP, MySQL, and a few of the more popular content management systems which store and serve the content I create.

In short, I write a lot. I learned that from my mom and a few high school English teachers who threatened me.

This site is created using Apple’s iLife suite of applications, which is available on every new Macintosh computer.

Standards are important and necessary on the internet. McElfresh.org subscribes to various standards such as XHTML and CSS, and is hosted on an Apple Xserve using Apple’s .Mac service.

Any modern browser should render the site in an attractive and appropriate manner. To obtain proper rendering of each page, we recommend that you use the increasingly popular Safari web browser (it's free), or Mozilla's Firefox (also free), instead of Microsoft's non-standards compliant and proprietary Internet Explorer. Safari is available for Windows PCs and comes standard on every Mac.

Nothing improves without change, so expect changes in design, layout, and look and feel over time.

I like to tweak, and tinker, and figure out how things work. I learned that from my dad.

There's so much to say and so little time to say it. I learned that from my wife.
